Quality Construction Guide

<< Back to Developer Page

The following are examples of quality measures we take in our continued effort to live by our company mantra: “build it as we would want it built for ourselves”.

  • Townhome and Villa party walls are 11 1/2” thick. 4” is required by the building code and is implemented by many builders.  These extra thick walls provide for a superior Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating thus enhancing your privacy.
  • Batt & blow ceiling insulation. Reduces any voids in the insulation between rafters allowing for better insulation coverage.
  • All homes meet the standards of the National Energy Code. Provides assurance that your home is energy efficient.
  • 25-year dimensional, architectural shingle or better. This is a fungus-resistant, long-lasting shingle.
  • Thorough Window flashing system. Provides integrity to the window system to maintain a water barrier.
  • Poured concrete foundations. Adds structural stability and strength to the house.
  • Expansion joints in foundation floor. Provides a pre-determined place for typical slab cracking due to the drying process.
  • Water-proofing “Watch Dog” membrane. Provides a Waterproofing membrane not just damp-proofing.
  • Advantec Tongue & Groove floor system. Advantec flooring resists water and swelling and does not delaminate when wet.
  • Full roof ridge venting. Increases energy efficiency.
  • All drywall is glued. Improves assembly of wall and ceiling system.
  • All floors are glued. Helps prevent squeaking of floors.
  • Thermopane windows. Superior insulation.
  • TJI Floor Joists. Superior joist system improving strength and rigidity of floors.
  • Interior, non-structural walls are framed 16” on center vs. the common practice of 24” spacing. This translates into sturdier walls.
  • Borate sill plates which are non-combustible and resist corrosion.
  • Natural stone veneers (no fake stone). Real stone has varied shapes and colors and provides a beautiful exterior.
  • Specialized ceramic tile backer-board used behind all ceramic tile to resist moisture, mold, swelling or rot. Creates a barrier that resists any water infiltration over time and provides a strong stabilization mat for the ceramic tile.
  • Schluter and Kerdi floor membrane underlayment for ceramic tile. Creates a barrier that resists any water infiltration over time and provides a strong stabilization mat for the ceramic tile.
  • Radon Venting. Ensures radon is vented from the home.
  • Automatic Sump-pump. Evacuates any water in the basement.
  • Sealed garage concrete slabs. Provides a sealed concrete slab which resists chalking and/or staining.
  • Rot-resistant jams on entry doors. Called “Defense Jambs” they eliminate water from “wicking” up into the jamb material which could cause swelling, rot or softening of the wood.
  • Air seal caulking of all joints and infiltration barrier on exterior. Provides more complete barrier of any air infiltration.
  • Fiberglass entry doors. Resists denting, swelling, warping, chipping, or other wood related problems.
  • Our homes are fully-engineered structures, certified by a professional structural engineer. This is not required and many builders don’t do this.  The value to you is the peace of mind that you live in a solid and well-built home.
  • Reinforced framing of corners. Increases the strength and integrity of your home.
  • Structural Sheathing. Adds structural rigidity to your home.
  • Engineered roof and floor trusses. Designed, engineered and certified roof and floor systems provide confidence and surety of the homes structural stability.

  • Professional EIFS wall system installation by certified EIFS installers. Provides beauty and overall aesthetics to your home and comes with a 7 year warranty.
  • Cushwa Moulded Brick. A lot of bricks are wire cut and unattractive.  Cushwa brick have a hand-made appearance with beautiful variations in color and texture.
  • Wood-burning, masonry fireplaces and full-height chimney. For those who want the real thing, we continue to build masonry fireplaces.
  • Third-party inspections and certification of construction quality (in addition to the rigorous Wormald construction management review and the required building inspector regimen provided by local jurisdictions). Provides a third layer of assurance and peace of mind that your home is built with excellence.
  • Fully-cased windows. Provides a complete wood cased interior look.
  • Central Module Interface with cabling all converging in one location in the basement. Provides a centralized means of managing cabling throughout the house; easier to fix.
  • All condominium-style construction is commercial-grade, non-combustible, concrete and steel construction. Far superior than common wood-built buildings.
  • Sound deadening flooring system. Increased privacy in condominium residences.
  • “Quick Flash” Window Installation. Superior flashing system that prevents moisture infiltration.
  • Exterior Wall System – Dens glass gold, R-19, with interior perimeter Dens Glass Armor, Level 5 finish. Solid exterior wall system for condominium buildings.

  • Tile Backer – Dens Glass Gold Shield. Creates a barrier that resists any water infiltration over time and provides a strong stabilization mat for the ceramic tile.

Note: Features may vary depending on the type of construction of your new home. The biggest difference is seen between commercial concrete and steel construction versus those homes built with lumber. Please consult a sales manager for specific construction specifications on your new home as not all of the above items will be found in your new home, and additional high quality measures not listed will be included. The above items are provided simply as examples from various product offerings of measures we take that reflect our culture of quality.
